For your final assignment, each group should submit a final version of their podcast.
With your team, record your podcast via Zoom. If using Zoom, you do not need to use video, because this is a podcast. Don’t just follow your script, perform it! Practice beforehand so you know when to pause, what to emphasize, etc. Be creative!
Podcasts should include the following:
-
A strong opening (2-5 minutes)
- Check this out for ideas - and then introduce yourselves (names).
How audio stories begin
- Go back to your proposal for other good text to record.
-
Incorporation of Interview data (10-25 minutes)
-
Closing (3-5 minutes)
- Idea: Record text from your Interview memo - what did we learn and what do we still need to know?
-
Light editing
- Eliminate distractions, long pauses, and questions that don't yield the most compelling answers
- Expert level (optional): Add music
-
Show notes
- A link to the episode (Upload to class Google Drive folder and get link)
- If appropriate, information about all the speakers (name, affiliation)
- Any external references (links to organizations, documents, or other referenced material)
- Credits for group participation
-
Equitable participation of group members
- Not all need to speak on the podcast recording, but all must contribute a roughly shared amount of labor. Credits are critical in making clear everyone's contribution.
