I am a mixed-methods researcher, educator, and advocate focused on better understanding and dismantling racial and economic inequality. I am currently Assistant Professor of Public Policy and Sociology at UCLA.

My work centers the experiences of Black workers and Black families to explore who gets ahead in America, who doesn’t, and why. In doing so, I’ve studied poverty, social mobility, the labor market, intra-racial class conflict, and the ideological underpinnings of racial capitalism displayed by institutions and online.

Alongside my academic work, I try to write, teach, and work with organizations around dismantling the systems of white supremacy and racial inequality. I also occasionally share resources on applying to and thriving in grad school and blog very infrequently about stuff I’m doing.
